Stephen Hunter wrote the Bob Lee Swagart trilogy.... The ex sniper who manages to keep life interesting for himself (to say the least)... I like all Hunter's books.

From what I've seen at SWH and Cabelas, the .444 has been more expensive than the 45-70.....30 bucks is a dang good price.....

A few years ago, I picked up 8 box of 12ga 3" steel BBB for 4.85 a box....THOSE will leave a mark at close range :mrgreen:

My older, MG .444 shoots ORH at 40-50yds with 240 Greenbox and factory sights. Just love it. A .44mag on super juice :wink:

I have the plain Jane 72...no peep or mounts......It was my Uncles and I got it. I've never shot it on paper, and it's never missed a squill :wink: It may have an adjustable trigger.....It's kind of a safe queen as I just enjoy shooting the Mounty too much.

I have the Ashley Outdoors/XO Ghost Ring and Scout Scope with QRWs and it's a very good set up....The good news is that if you understand Ghost Rings, they will shoot right with the scout scope out to the effective range of the scope/ammo (generally under 120 yards or so)

My 1980 era T/C Renegade w/set trigger kit would put .54 RB into a pie plate at 100 all day long...when I loaded it way down for squill and plinking, it would put them into a ragged hole at 50yd.....Never shot any other bullets in it.....Oh, deer load was 100gr pyrodex P and squill load was 40gr pyr...

Cabelas had one sitting out yestersay....I won't say what the price was, but I'd like your opinion of what the high end of the price range would be. This one was prolly 90-95%. Prolly shot often and taken real good care of. I may actually pull out a bond or two and get this one even if it is a hair ...
