1886, I've done that with my 94s also. Mostly I found it to be the way I was benching the rifle. If I rest the rifle on the sand bag each shot moves the rifle. So the rest changes. I finally started resting my forearm on the bag and holding the rifle as if I was shooting off hand. That seems to help...

I would suggest a nice mid to late 1970s vintage carbine. They are usually in good shape, the prices are usually reasonable and they are great for someone who hasn't had a lot of experiance with lever guns. If you can find a late pre-64 that's good to, but I wouldn't exclude any of the post-64 guns....

Get two while you're at it. There is an old voodoo thing that goes like this: Any part you have a spare for won't break. At least I've never had one break that I had a spare for. I'm beginning to feel really left out. I've never had a loading gate screw break, or loosen up on me. Matter of fact the ...

rojogrande, Welcome to the forum. Well, I'll have to partly agree and partly disagree with C.Cash. It has more sentimental value than collector value. Since it's been modified the collector value has dropped significantly. I agree with the chamber cast and the overall mechanical inspection, but I wo...

Mike, Sighting in at 12.5 yards sounds like an easy way to get it lined up. For one good reason, you can see the target clearer. At least I know I can. I'll try this with my 1894 Cowboy next time I hit the range. When reading your text I noticed your Trapper started out shooting to the right, then w...

Re: OT - .357 Revolver Suggestions
I've been starting to think about getting a .357 revolver to carry while hunting, around the house, and to take to the bathroom. etc. Seriously, the main purpose would be to have it as protection while hunting. Or, when not hunting, maybe I could just take a handy revolver instead of humping a 7 po...

I wouldn't if you take your time and hunt up a couple exploded drawings. They are actually a very simple action to work on. And there is nothing that requires a tremendous amount of force to remove. The lever to bolt pin will push out once you remove the retaining screw. No need to use force. If it ...

Re: Winchester '94 action tightened: NOT GOOD!
While shooting my .32 WSP DOM=1912, the action tightened up as if something had been bent(?) loosened(?). The loads were normal pressures. I've read that toothpaste, steel wool, polishing the bolt might help some dragging problems. What might have caused this rifle to tighten? I'd like to get it ba...

Re: 2495 powder to be discontinued
2495 will be going away. 2495 is a superior cast bullet powder and it will be no more in the near future. The prospects of another manufacturer picking it up are negligable. There are other good cast bullet powders out there to be sure but none quite like 2495. 1886. 1886, Please educate me, I've n...

Joe, the gap measures right at .002 and looking down the barrel with one of those fiber optic mag light attachments it looks like every chamber lines up spot on.
