Re: Old auto vacuum fan

The cars I owned, Buicks, all had booster pumps to make up for the drop in vacuum when under load. The 57 Roadmaster had the booster in the oil pump and the 56 Century had the pump in the fuel pump. As long as the wiper motor was in good shape and both sources of vacuum worked you had wipers when ne...

When my Ruger .22 auto started doing this, the problem was a worn extractor. It was worn under the hook where you couldn't see it. Once I replaced the extractor it worked properly.

The little projection on the top center of the link is the cartridge stop. If it becomes worn or gets broken off it will not prevent multiple feeding. There is several ways to fix the stop, peening it back to shape, welding it up and reshaping, or replacing the link. Sometimes the stop will be OK bu...

Scott, Some years ago I tried them in my Marlin 1894. In .357 cases they were iffy, usually the driving band caught on the edge of the chamber and hung up. In .38 cases they'd feed OK-ish but only if I made sure to hold the rifle straight up and down. Tilt it either way and they would jam. My normal...
