The bore is pretty bad but I found a 1" .54 caliber T/C Hawken barrel for a good price. That's one of the best things about the Renegades - the availability of barrels. You can also have it rebored - if its a 50, make it a 54... And there are replacement niples that work better available as we...

The Marlin trigger is prolly better.
The Winchester action prolly feeds more better.
The Marlin is easier to take apart and put back together.
I have several Marlin levers and would like to get a Winchester 94....maybe two or three

Don't they have conversion kits for .22LR? I know the Army had them back in the '80s....we used them in an experimental short range Qualification...that pretty much sucked and didn't work out, but the conversion kit actually ran in the M16 (semi only) better than the real thing.

Most full-house .44 mag loads are for shooting Way Out There past the abilities of most handgun shooters. There's not too much that a 300 grain, or even a 240 grain at 1100fps won't smack down real hard. Heck, I hear 44-40 is plenty of gun for most hunting at reasonable distances.
