I have never used Varget.
I am now playing with 5744 with 325 and 405 cast bullets, but have not loaded any .405 jacketed bullets. Some of the information in the posts above mine should provide you plenty of options.

Yes it will. My .308 featherweight M70 Win would jump up from the sandbags at the range when shooting Hornady light magnums before I had it magnaported. My Miroku-Davidsons 1886 came new with an 11 pound trigger.
After an action and trigger job, it is about 4 pounds which works for me on the bench and in the field. This made it much easier to shoot accurately.

Refinish stocks, repair bolt, thorough cleaning (last taken apart in 1970), and oiling.
The bolt problem made it unuseable and required dissambly, therefore, the other work was done.
I will run through all this when I post before and after pictures.

Dropped by Doc's gun shop today and drooled over the refinished Bishop stocks - sorry I did not take my camera.
Doc says he will soon get it all back together and give me a call, maybe by next week. At that time I will post some b4 and after pics.
Then it will be off to the range for some real fun.

Very nice .44. I have to confess, that I really prefer shooting .44 special in my Taurus .44 Mag DA revolver. They are much like a .38 in a .357 - mild and accurate.
