I'm reading "Autumn of the Gun" by Ralph Compton. He builds a story around Wyatt Earp, Sam Bass, Billy the Kid, Sam Bass, and McNelly's Rangers (by implication not direct mention) all in one book. Besides Earp, I also have Jauquim Jackson Texas Ranger on the my mind as a lawman.

Maybe I'd move to the mountains if I had enough money to choose. Central Texas is mighty hot right now, but our country living is pretty fair. It's the daily commute I could do without but I'll have to wait another 10 years to avoid that.

From 6pt-sika "If" one were inclined it isn't that difficult to make 444 shot cartridges and if I'm not mistaken they are pretty darned close to the same payout as a 2 1/2" 410 !" Marshall Stanton over at Beartoothbullets.com has a good explanation of how to load .410 in the .444...

I'd say it depends. Are you familiar with your gun and optic? Are you sure you hold your rifle in a consistent manner? How much total trigger time do you? Do you want a 1/2" group or is killing accuracy good enough? Shoot it enough that you are satisfied the results can be repeated.

Nothing new about the concept. Google "garrison load" and you'll see the U.S. Calvery used them in 45/70 around the stockade.

Within the last few months Mike Venturino wrote about multi ball loads in either American Handgunner or Guns. IIRC, 3 balls printed in a triangle for .45C.

I use a simplyrugged pancake for my .45C Vaquero--cross draw, weak side reverse vertical, and mostly strong side. I plan to order a cuda or simliar from simplyrugged for my FNP-40.

I've read about Wind's hits out to 800+ yards with his trusty 38/55. I'm impressed and jealous that I don't have a range where I could practice that.
