Enjoying the "Pitchy effect"
Pitchy has only been back among us for a couple of days, and already his creativity has started the rusty gears turning in my old noggin. Lenn, that leather stitching clam you made gave me an idea for what to do with this big oak stave: cut it at the middle, fit a base, taper the top ends and add a ...

You can get a pretty serious quality Pedersoli 20-gauge Howdah for not much more money, which I am sure would be far better built. The one I had a dozen years ago was surprisingly accurate with a patched .595 310-grain round ball at 25-ish yards and not punishing. The 12 bore might be.

Gorgeous lever gun, but why?
Pedersoli makes some really lovely firearms with excellent barrels. But their reasoning can be questionable. A beefy 8 1/2-pound 1886, but in .30 WCF? (We won't go into that tang safety business.) https://landing.davide-pedersoli.com/en/86-71droptineclassic?utm_medium=email&utm_source=wadmailing...

Doc, yes, humbling. All my worries -- ALL of them times 100 -- don't amount to a hill of poo compared to what these two souls endured, with grace. I am sorry that God has to slap me in the face with a large frozen halibut to get my attention so often, but I love Him for trying.

By the way, those fall-front knee breeches came to me used, and I wouldn't have chosen pink, although it was not only correct for the period but considered downright high class. .45Colt: winter and spring mud was one reason I left Oregon. Gets real tiresome. Will, the secret to using dry beans, which I prefer these days, is the overnight soak with a pinch of baking soda. It greatly reduces the amount of raffinose sugar responsible for gas issues. https://www.eatingwell.com/...

Will, my late friend Chick Donnelly, of Siskiyou Barrel Works in Applegate, OR, held Parker Ackley in great reverence after his time at Trinidad. Ackley told a funny story or two at Elmer Keith's expense, having been the supervisor at Ogden Arsenal with Keith worked there.
