Ok, I'll admit to having the Taj Mahal of tree stands for fat guys. It's just about big enough to take a walk around on while 20' up in the tree. I've certainly fallen asleep in it ... comfortably. Wow ... no shortage of meplat on that H&G bullet. That'll land with a thud. I need to get a mould for .348, I don't shoot much because I only have a couple of cases of factory left. I've got brass and some of the Barnes jacketed but that still is going to run me far more than cast w/ GC.

So....that bring us to your question on a load for the 348. I shoot a couple of thousand rounds a year using a 210 grain gas checked with 22 grains of 5744 for 1600 in metallic silhouette competition. This load will easily drop anything in the deer class and probably elk at 100 yards. What kind of ...

I just checked the Barnes manual and they list a 250 Gr. Barnes Original in 348, I may take a look at that as well. It seems like there are a few more options these days for 348 than there were 25 years ago. I'm surprised Hornady doesn't have anything heavier than 200 Gr. listed. Yeah, I was just t...

Re: How many Moose hunters are there on Paco Kelly's Leverguns

I'm sure a moose could be taken with a standard 200 grain Silver Tip in .348 but it would be nice to have a load in a premium for the task ... something like the North Fork 230 grain FP perhaps. I think Swift makes their A-frame in .348 now and again. Not in stock lately though and just the standard...

We don't get many moose here in Florida, but one of my favorite sayings was about moose hunting from one of the regulars here. "Nothing ruins a moose hunt quite like killing one." Finished Longmire, now on episode 5 of Godless. An excellent show but it seems that it's more of a mini-series as no more than this 7 are planned. Set in 1884, so of course I've got my gun eye out for anything that shouldn't exist at that time.
