Re: Need help with a project.
If'n it was mine, I would get with Douglas and have a barrel made. (yeah spendy, but so what) Then I would have any reputable CAS levergun smith do a very slick action, dovetail the barrel for the sights and mag tube hanger....... Google a feller who calls himself Lassiter.... Thanks for the inform...

Need help with a project.
I am thinking that I need to do a custom Marlin 1894css. I want to get my hands on one and make it into a "Cowboy" rifle. I am interested in switching out the barrel and forstock wood to make this project work. The tough part is finding an octagon barrel in stainless steel that will work o...

I am glad to hear about the Barnes TSX. I just bought a box to try in my .243. I hope they shoot well.

Re: If only someone made a lever action slug gun
I do know of guys that take a Marlin .410 shotgun, rebarrel it to have a rifled boar and make their own slugs to shoot in them. As I understand it they shoot like a .45-70 which of course is very good on deer.

I have tried them too. I just make nice little wad cutters with them and I punch paper for fun. The do shoot more accurately and they make a really nice clean hole.

Re: Your favorite Pistol/Revolver?
It is hard to pick a favorite pistol or revolver out of my collect as I really like them all. On the other hand I have been shooting these more than the rest lately. They are used in CAS matches along with my 1894 CBC and the Winchester 1897. http://usera.ImageCave.com/JCW/Cropped%20Cowboy%20guns.jp...

I have one of the blued/walnut versions. I like it a lot and paid about $375'ish for mine too. The only negative I have about it is that it is heavy. When trudging through a foot or more of snow looking for cotton tails it starts to weigh on you.

Re: New 22 not a lever
This insert is a Shaver. We put one of Shavers spirit level globes on Carols roller, and that is a really nice sight. I see... Nice setup. I was giving consideration to switching out my Marbles Tang for a MVA Soule sight. If we had some official matches in my area I might just do that. Cool stuff. ...

Re: New 22 not a lever
That is a cool rifle! I have one just about like it. My rear sight is a Marbles. I also have the .17HMR version too. They are great little rifles to plink with.
As far as the front globe goes, I have found that I like Lee Shavers inserts alot. They work great because they are so fine.

I would consider this is my Ultimate. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i125/kentdep/100_1396.jpg I would like to get the action color case hardened yet. And maybe get the action screws niter blued. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i125/kentdep/100_1394.jpg Then I would be all set I think. Jay

Re: Marlin 1895 cb with treebone buttstock (photo)
Nice looking rifle. Treebone did a set for my 1895 LTD-V a couple of years back. I have been tinkering with mine for some time and just added a tang sight to mine. I am getting my rifle ready for some long range SASS side matches. I just posted this on the rugerforum today. http://www.rugerforum.org...

I think the only difference between the regular Cowboy and Cowboy Competition models is the color cased finish and a bit more internal factory tuning. Joe That is exactly correct with the .45s. At the time that these CBCs were being made, the only difference between the CBC and the Cowboy, where th...

The Cowboy Competition, in .38 caliber was a .38 Special only rifle. They also made some in .45LC. These are easy to spot as they have color case hardened receivers. There was a run of standard Cowboy rifle that had blued recievers but were chambered for .38 Special only too. Pretty rare, I had a ch...

Marlin Cowboy 1895 question.
I have a 1895LTD-V that I have been toying with for some time. I bought it used and it came with a Lyman tang sight that I want to replace. I tried a long range side match at the Wolverine Range War last year and I did ok but I really don't care for the Lyman. It is kind of junky, loose and not too ...

Thanks for all the nice words! I appreciate that from fine levergun gurus! The glass bedding of the stocks weather proofs them. It also tightens the wood to metal fit.
