I picked up a New Flattop .44 special about 2 weeks ago. I love the thing. Much smaller than my Vaqueros in 44 mag. As a matter of fact, I like the flattop so much, I'm really thinking about selling my 44 mags.

I don't do much offhand rifle shooting in practice, because I don't do much to any while hunting. I find something to lean on or I shoot in a laying position with a bipod. All these guys shooting off hand are what wound deer IMHO.

That saddle blooper is pretty funny. I kind of doubt the Duke won that saddle in the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association, so it musta been borrowed.

Definitely has to be the 1860 in .44, at least in my book. Don't buy a 1851 in .44, since that was never actually produced. If you buy an 1851, get a .36, which is period correct.

I use the LFCD on .44 mag, .44 special, .32 H&R Mag, .30-06, and .223. I really like it and it does a great job smoothing the neck.

You don't have to be that old. I'm 28 and a horse broke my wrist this summer. A steel plate, six screws and a handful of pins later, my wrist is pretty much back to normal.

We're getting more of those cats here in North Dakota. Last fall when pheasant hunting in deep, deep, deep cover, it ran through my mind a time or two. Good to see this guy was prepared.
