I often use a Leupold fixed 2.5X in low weaver rings on my guide gun, after many, many rounds, there has not been an issue. These are stiff reloaded rounds also.

I usually have my Kel-Tec .380 along. I also tried the regular Taurus 85 and the Glock 23. The Kel-Tec has the most carrying miles on it. with it's holster, the whole package is smaller and lighter than my wallet.

A cold steel knife is almost always along also...

congrats - all the best - let's hope you can find some time to sleep in the next few weeks. My oldest 2 (twins) are 4.5 and the newest girl is almost 9 months. You'll be busy - but it is the best kind of busy. Being a good father takes time and alot of effort and I am just getting started

I load my own - with 170 grain Hornady bullets - but I always have a box or 2 of remington green box around. I've killed a mess of deer with Remington factory loads.

The .32-20 is an outstanding round and probably my all time favorite. I've knocked off a pile of critters with it and have more leverguns chambered in the the 32WCF that any other cartridge. Anything more than $650 you should save some more money and buy a Winchester 1892, if you can find one. The 44-40 is a very fun round capable of doing alot of things.

First, welcome aboard! I agree with OI - for the beginning reloading, I would stay away from a Progressive press, and go with a single-stage unit. Nice report - I also use Titegroup for my plinking 45 colt loads. 6 grains does will in both my Ruger Blackhawk and Puma 92 rifle. I tried HS-6, Unique, but settled on Titegroup. clean burning and low charge weights add up to alot of fun shooting for me.

In my safe it would be the Winchester 88 in .308 or the Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70. If I were to go out today and buy a "long range" lever gun - I would be hard pressed to walk by a newer Browning in 30-06, 270, or such. I even think they make a small caliber one in 22-250 - can't get much ...

I think in general thier data is ok - I would always cross ref. with a published industry loading books from one of the major companies out there and always remember to treat each gun as a law upon itself...
