Rifle season opens here tomorrow

I was able to get to the range about ten days ago to do some tweaks to my sights and try some longer distance shooting just to see what I could get. Anyways, I was able to shoot out to two hundred yards with my handloads, and was very happy with the results. 160 gr. Hornady FTX, with one grain less ...

Re: Load Development - 'or not...'

I should add that in NewYorkistan where I reside, one is required to do a background check to purchase ammunition. I don’t load for handgun (yet) and I don’t shoot it as much (probably should) as my rifles, so I just purchase for that. Components are not (yet) required to have background checks as o...

Re: Load Development - 'or not...'

I load the same for all my cartridges. Probably not as meticulous as others, but I try and keep what I do as consistent as possible. I don’t however weigh brass, bullets, and such. Maybe I should? I clean all my brass by hand, and use a beam scale and weigh out each powder load by hand, on a Lee sin...

Re: Recently retired...and I

I started making knives a few years before I retired, which lead to making leather sheaths, which led to other leather products. It’s been about 12 years now. I retired in 2018 and started working full time the next day for myself, and from November until Christmas I was working 12-13 hours a day, s...

Re: I was asked to….

Thank you all for the kind words! It is greatly appreciated! Good idea. Thanks! I am thinking about placing a small pouch with a snap down flap on the butt cuff to hold 5 or 6 rounds instead of the cartridge loops. I've found that making a pattern or template is about 50% of any leather project. I a...

Re: I was asked to….

Wow! Impressive work! I make a few leather items too. Great hobby for making your own gear and forgetting about work for a while. I want to try a butt cuff for a Winchester Trapper next. When I did my first butt cuff, I wrapped my stock with plastic wrap and then with that blue painters tape. Then ...

I was asked to….

I was asked to post some of my leatherwork. I’m a retired Physical Education teacher and Football Coach. I’ve been retired for going on eight years now and needed something to pass my time with, so I started to make some things. Here are a few pics as requested. Thank you for looking! If this is aga...

I know sometimes it may be uncomfortable, and cliche, but I appreciate the sacrifice that you all made for us to live the life we do.
Thank you!

Re: First time posting

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Yes I did make the cartridge cuff. I do a little leatherwork, cartridge cuffs, ammo wallets, slings, and things of that nature. They are the 160 FTXs and they do shoot very well out of my 94. I handload them with a good load of the Hornady Leverevolution powder an...

First time posting

I’ve been a member for a while and I’ve just never got around to posting. Lost sight of this site for a bit and recently found it again. I’m not an aficionado on levers but I do love them. Grew up on Saturday morning westerns. I have a run of the mill 1980 Winchester model 94, that shoots well and c...
