Re: .308s in my life.

I've had a couple 308s, a Ruger #1 with a 26" barrel and the one I've hung on to, Browning BLR 81. blr.jpg Featherweight carbine barrel, is as slick as a slick thing and shows lever gun manufacturers how it should be. When I play with it I use cast boolits, when I take it out for boar it gets 1...

Re: 35 Cal swaged boolits for hogs?

It's no a 357, it's 358 with a 30/06 parent case.
The shop owner who swaged them has used them up to 1300 or so fps. He advises the gas check keeps the bore smut free.
I'm not restricted to them though, this mold came in the post today, 220grain HP

35 Cal swaged boolits for hogs?

Bit of Practical advice please, I'm getting a 35 cal and bought some run out 200 grain gc swaged boolits. They are gonna be boiled in dishwasher detergent then powder coated. The lead is pure lead and I'm really downloading them to get some trigger time but are swaged boolits any good for medium siz...

Re: Casting - lube question

I powder coat, gas check and size then tumble lube in LEES liquid alox, use them boolits in my 223, 22 savage, 30/30, 308 and 357 don't seem to get any lead deposits even with the 223 pushing 60 grain boolits hard.

Re: How many of you keep records of the amount of times you shoot a particular gun?

I do when I go shoot on the MOD (military) ranges, part of their credo is to know about every round and every gun fired, I believe it's a holdover from times past when soldiers would keep back ammo though I don't know. I also know that some of the civilians I shoot with have their licences condition...

Re: Your Preferred Bullet for your 357 Levergun ?

357 cast.jpg I bought these in bulk,1000 of each, they are meant to be 158 grains, each weighs at 170 grains. I load them with either Lovex D036, Alliant 2400, or Vv N110. Best velocities high 1600s very accurate. For plinking I load them with 3.2 grains of Hodgdon universal for about 900 fps. Stil...

Re: alliant 2400?

Vhitavuori N110 is good, Vhi website gives 357 loads. Vhi N105 is said to be virtually identical to 2400 but I've not used it.
Lovex powders known as Worldpowders in the US D036,D037.1 and D037.2 all do Hi V or plink loads for my 357 M92.

Re: Ruger #1 Miss-Fire?

Quite often the problem is the interruptor, if the lever doesn't push this in far enough (put this down to the nut holding the lever as I've done it twice in the last 5 years) if it's not that then there needs to be some adjustment made. The good thing about this issue - yes every cloud has a silver...
