Jim,

Once I get a load to work then if it shoots a bit to one side I'll, with masking tape to protect the top strap, carefully file the rear sight to correct for windage.

Then blue locktite every screw!! The key is.. take my time and think it through!

Ok, got a ejector rod (I think Ruger.) Same length but bit bigger in the area that goes down the tube. I thinned that and it fits perfectly. Reblued it to. Now a question.. My little brother (well he is now in his 40s) left his .243 Remington rifle uncleaned for several years. Yes rusted barrel. I also cleaned it very well but it still looked like some WW1 'dark' bore rifle!

Picked up the little cannon. With just factory sights it shoots great using PMC .44 magnum JHPs. That group is from 25 yards. Notice the blued magazine tube and lever. Even the screws are blued. On the contrary.. I have found Marlin 336s, at least those made in the 1960s (I have owned several), to be far smoother than the post-64 Winchester 94s. Far smoother.
