Re: coated bullet in a ROSSI 92 38/357 and 45colt/454

I have a question for all you reloaders. Can coated bullets be used in my two new Rossi model 92? I have heard is not a good idea, especially for 357 mag, and 454 casull Not a Rossi, but I have shot a thousand or more powder coated bullets in my Henry Big Boy in 357 mag without any issues. Also use...

Re: Winchester 73 44-40 Black Powder shooting (video)

MGR1, A question for you, When you said Swiss #4 black powder were you referring to 4F powder, or something else. I've not heard of of black powder referred to in this way before. Joe Swiss operates with 'grades' on their powders. So #4 is a coarse powder for use in long rifles. N°1 = 4 Fg N°2 = 3 ...

Re: Winchester 73 44-40 Black Powder shooting (video)

Thanks for the kind comments. This video was more of an exercise to learn the basics of the Davinci Resolve free video editor. I still have quite alot to learn. I have some spare time on my hands due to the corona situation. Over here in Norway we all are ordered to work from home, and fortunately I...

Winchester 73 44-40 Black Powder shooting (video)

Hi all. Some 44-40 range action with my Winchester M73, Miroku manufactured. Cartridges are loaded with Swiss #4 black powder, under Accurate Molds #43-220C (sized to .430") bullets pan lubed with a 50/50 beeswax/lard mix. A very good combination; I see no deterioration in accuracy even after 1...

Re: 38-55 with Universal/Unique?

I have used Hodgdon Universal with success in 356 Win, 7.65x53, 6.5x55, 44-40 WCF and 357 Magnum. Great powder for reduced loads. Very accurate and low standard deviation. I have not found it to be very position sensitive.

Re: Cold morning at the range - Winchester M73 and Henry BBS 357 Mag

As I get older those sights get murkier and fuzzier. I never liked scopes on lever guns but ……. Another concession I am making to old age. How do you like the Henry? If you had to do it over again would you buy the Henry or save up a few more dollars and get a Winchester or Marlin? I'm thinking ser...

Cold morning at the range - Winchester M73 and Henry BBS 357 Mag

Hi all. A couple of videos for you, recorded on thursday at my local range. A lovely morning, although the light was not ideal for shooting, which might account for some of my misses ;). Lots of roe deer tracks in the snow at the range. Temperature was -4 C / 24 F. First some Miroku Winchester M73 4...

Re: With the Miroku Winchester M73 at the range

I LOVE your range  Great to see your 73 making smoke, what were your loads?. First a few reduced loads with 17 grain Lovex D060 (similar to AA5744) under Lee 429-200-RF bullets. The rest was with Pyrodex P and Lyman 427098 bullets. Velocites were around 1050 fps for both. I always clean th...

Bought a nice vintage gun bag/case

Hi all.

Just bought this nice vintage gun bag. Appears to be unused, and has a great father and son hunting scene inside. Probably from the 60's I would say. Has anyone seen these before, and know who made them and when?

Winchester stock lacquer

Hi all. In the 1970's and 80's Winchester used some sort of reddish lacquer for their stocks, see example below. Does anyone here know how to reproduce this factory finish? Thats good shooting, was gonna ask you about your brass, but saw you were watching where every piece landed when you levered a new round in. Todd/3leg Yes, have to watch them carefully :D. This just reminded me of how much I NEED to get back out there. Thanks, that was a treat! Yes, the 356 Win is a great caliber. You can hear it has quite some en...

Interesting that the unsuppressed .357 isn't much if any louder than the suppressed 356.

Joe
Yes, the 356 Win has a loud crack. The suppressor is an old one though, it is some 20 years old.

Winter morning at the range, with two lever guns

I had a fine morning at the range yesterday, shooting the Henry Big Boy Steel 357 Magnum: https://youtu.be/Z9oOA3kO60o

And the Winchester 94AE Big Bore 356 Winchester: https://youtu.be/tWj_b-aXUmA

The sound of the gong is very satisfying :).

Good books about the Winchester 94

Hi all.

Could you suggest some good books about the Winchester 94? I'm interested in the technical aspects of the rifle and year to year changes, mainly the post-64 and 70's and 80's models.

Thanks,
Michael

Many thanks for the welcome :) . I can disclose that the top (silver) gun is a Walther Co2 levergun :D. Perfect for training in the basement. Yes, the Weaver Micro Trac K2.5-1 must be one of the last that came from the old El Paso factory, and perhaps one of the best. A very nice period accessory. A...
