Re: Moving safes
I recently move the ~1000 lb safe delivered to my garage into the Study. I was quoted $350 which I could not abide. Rented a pallet jack for $42, and bought $80 worth of wood for a 2 step ramp, floor protection, and blocks. A friend and I wheeled it into place, dropped on 4x4 blocks in position, use...

Re: OT: Any opinions on Steelwater gun safes
Boy did this thread go a bit south. Given that my firearms currently reside in a much too small Sportsman Steel safe without any fire protection and early 1980s security features just about anything that got my guns not touching each other would be a big improvement. I actually was going to go throu...

I have a Weatherby Accumark in 338-378. I find the recoil to be very tolerable. I would rather shoot that than slugs out of a 12 ga or max black powder loads behind a mini ball in my TC 50 cal Hawkens. Dillion says my 550 can handle reloading the 338-378.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the folding sight on the barrel. I am guessing it is a flat spring that slides between the sight and base. It appears there is a pocket in the base to retain it. Just picked up my 1921 1899 after my ten day "cooling off period". Looks to be in pretty fair shape. This will be my third attempt at getting a decent 1899 for hunting. First one had no rifling left in the last 6-8 inches of the barrel which I believe had been lopped off to ~20 inches and ...
