Re: Poor dog

Love always has a cost. At age 13, our male Chessie was hit by a car and had to lose a leg. $3,500 later, he lived 2 more happy years, mostly with mamma in the kitchen. We adopted a blind and deaf pup, a rough coated Jack mix. Love her to death; this dog has helped me out of severe emotional crisis....

Re: TC G2, .30-30 single shot?

The current twist is 1:10. Will this be an issue for the lighter bullets?

I like the fact that the barrel is not tapered; hopefully that suggests that it's heavier and stiffer and possibly more accurate.

TC G2, .30-30 single shot?

Anyone familiar with the latest G2 rifle, in .30-30? I'm interested in working with the .30-30 for 100-200 yard target shooting and this looks like a nice rifle.

People are clamoring for "scout" rifles in military calibers. This would appeal to that crowd, especially if it was prepped with both sights and scope mounts.

Loud pipes don't save lives...by the time you hear them it's too late. That's incorrect. Some years ago, I purchased a Sears Model 100, Winchester 94, in hardly-used condition, for the princely sum of $125. The dealer took it on a trade and just wanted it gone. I think it was only used for hunting; it had hardly any wear. There are many leverguns out there that fit that description, ie....

Cats will not be a warning or a deterrent. If you're serious, and I hope you are, get 2 dogs; one larger, one smaller. Terriers wake and give the alarm quicker than some other breeds. I'd go 260 Remington.
Super accurate, light recoil, good for very long range.
More versatile and available than the 6.8, a good bit more punch than .223, much lighter recoil than .308.

Anytime you pack the shotgun, that dog is gonna go nuts! Once they get pheasant up their nose and figure out that flush leads to shot / leads to retrieve, you've made a hunter.

For me, the dog work is a big part of the hunt.
