I have an Ithaca (early "Henry" style lever .22) and an early Marlin 39a. The Ithaca (Henry) has a super-smooth action and is light-weight and quick handling. The Marlin is as heavy as a full-size center-fire levergun and can be taken down for storage or transport. Both rifles are very acc...

OT - Bushnell 1500 Elite Laser Range Finder - Review

{this is a compilation review I performed and wrote over a 4-day period} I've wanted one of these for quite some time and especially after reading a good write-up on them over at "Sniper Central"-> http://www.snipercentral.com/bush1500lrf.htm They MSRP for ~$500 and many sales sites want ...

Re: How much ammunition?

Anyway, does anyone else keep track of their ammunition? Do you set goals for how much you like to have on hand? Lastly, for your levers, how much do you want to have - a minimum inventory, if you will? I think it's wise to have 1K rounds for a gun on hand. For .22LR - that's easy, but the .45-70 g...

I do pretty much the same thing. The thickness of my sheet of material is a little too thick - but I just use a razor blade to trim it flush with the shell base.

I didn't start out as a Ron Paul supporter either. After reading on his stands on the issues, I've started to believe he's got some real good points. He's a straight talker, practices what he preaches and doesn't waffle or flip-flop. He's lived a moral and decent life and doesn't have the skeletons ...

Looks good tho.
They are steel and have (what appears) to be a blued finish. When I cleaned it up out of the bag, a lot of black residue came off but it's still dark like in the photos.

Nice Inexpensive Tang Sight

I really like tang sights – but most of the ones I’ve seen cost over $100. Considering this Taurus model 62c is a $250 rifle, I can’t see the point in spending that much on a tang sight. After a little looking around, I found out that Taurus makes their own tang sight and it’s available for ...

I used the Williams WGRS in the front set of holes on my 1894c, and used a Lymann 17 AHB globe sight up front. I'm real pleased with the way it sights and if I want a "ghost ring", all I have to do is remove the aperature.

Drilling out a hole filled with a weld can be quite difficult as the fill material is usually harder than the surrounding material. I'd wonder if it could be fixed by using a hardened pin that's silver soldered into the hole? I just don't know if such a repair would be durable enough or possible to ...

I shoot a Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter in .44 mag with a 2-6x scope and would not have any problem at all hitting a concrete block at 100yards (from a rest). I'd say to be sure and stand the cinder block up vertical and make sure you've practiced (and sighted the gun) at 100yards, so you can ...

I can load "plinking rounds" using 16gr of Unique for fun and anything else in 300, 405 or 500gr bullets for nearly any purpose. Now that's versatility!

I got my 1894c from a discount sporting goods shop (Big 5) about six years ago for $279 and I think they were this inexpensive as the wood is very plain and has no checkering. Other 1894c's I'd seen had prettier wood, but sold for more so I think mine was the "most basic" model available. ...

WW231 is an excellent powder in .32acp .380acp and 9mm. I also load Unique in these same rounds. My feeling is that WW231 would work OK in the larger rounds like .357mag & .44mag, but that there are "more optimum" powders to use that have a slower pressure curve. That said, I have not ...
