Which BLACK POWDER cartridge for deer???

Indiana has legalized basically any cartridge generally deemed suitable for deer hunting. I'm interested in using rifles chambered for rounds originally loaded with black powder, 32/40, 38/55, 45/70, etc, etc.... I will use either a lever gun or a single shot (maybe both! :D ). Most shots will be ta...

Re: Got a leak in pond dam. Advice?

Howdy Pete. The soft spot is in front of and slightly to the side of the mouth of the drain pipe. There's no doubt that the pipe has been compromised. Looks like about 30' feet from it mouth. I checked the water level this morning and its basically unchanged from late yesterday evening. And, the wat...

Thanks Sixgun. Not what I hoped to hear, but, not surprised to hear it.

Got a leak in pond dam. Advice?

Fished my acre pond this evening and heard water rushing in its drain pipe, though the water was a foot below the mouth of the pipe. With a strong light after dark I could see a mini geyser of water where I think I recall two pipes were joined. I noticed that near the pipes mouth the ground was supe...

Guess who found a meth "lab" while working in the woods yesterday. :( Has me really considering my options to say the least. I appreciate all the feedback guys. I have a question, not pointed at anyone in particular. I've read here and other places that some long in the tooth, knowledgeabl...

Re: .410 derringers. Thoughts?

Thanks for the replies. For work (in the woods), I've carried the NAA mini 22 mag, Beretta 21a, 3 different j-frames, and a KelTec 380. Always looking for something that is easy to carry (generally, inside my pocket. I carry plenty of gear with me everyday, any more just gets burdensome), and reliab...

.410 derringers. Thoughts?

Anybody have experience with or opinions about the .410 derringers (I'm interested in a Bond Arms model)?

I work in the woods everyday and my biggest threat would be dogs and coydogs. Possibly a meth cooker as well. Wondering if a Bond .410 makes sense for me.

Thanks for your thoughts, Skychief

HELP!!! I need mole control!!!!

My yard is FULL of them this year. I plugged two with a shotgun today.

Tried a scissor type trap last year. No luck. Found it needed about 400# to set it off.

Do any of you guys swear by a certain trap or other method to kill the little devils?

Re: Recurves again

If you draw close to 28", pass on it unless you're a hulk. I shoot a lot of traditional archery as do a lot of my friends, leagues and outdoor 3d. Not to mention all the hunting we do. 50# is about as heavy as you'll find any of us shooting. Ten pounds in traditional archery is a huge huge diff...

Re: Old bad words

Had a grandpa that said it a lot. Around grandma, he tried to use "horse-feathers". He'd slip from time to time around her though. Boy do I miss him.

I'd bet a dollar to a donut hole that this guy is miserable, in all actuality. I watched the video to the part with the machine gun mounted ride. Doubt if watching the whole thing would change my opinion.

Poor guy.

Shot my enabler's, er, friend's Marlins today...

In returning his copy of Venturino's 'Shooting Old West Leverguns', my buddy had me shoot a couple of his turn-of-the-century Marlins. An 1893 32/40 and 1894 32/20. :D Both great rifles made quick work of his field of silhouettes. I fell hard for his quick handling '94!!! That little 32/20 was a hoo...

Doing it all wrong????? I will have you know my friend that the "Skychief Special" load in a frontstuffing smoothbore is the result of thinking outside of the box! If that's wrong, I don't want to do it right. :D It sure is hard on the critters, here and abroad, no? Best regards, S...

New guy saying "Hi"...

Greetings all. Been reading a lot here recently. Looked like the water was warm, so I'm jumping in. Thanks for having me. I'm big into muzzleloading and love black powder hunting. My lever gun interest was heightened this year as a neighbor gifted a 1970's 336 in 30/30 to me. As indiana saw fit to a...
