I let my trap door go about a year ago but just wanted to let all know that if you have a chance at one with a bad bore there is a solution and his name is Bobby Hoyt. He relined mine with the proper 3 groove liner and it shot real good after.

I use the Hornady XTP bullet with a sabot and 90 grains of ffg Goex in my 50 cal. Hawken. If I remember correctly I got around 1700 fps. It expands reliably on whitetail. You know Lenn, that could be a big coyote or coy-dog. It's protection ends where my yard begins. I've a dog at the vet's now that got a terrible mauling from, I guess, coyotes. She's been in the hospital? for 2 weeks now. I can't imagine what that's going to cost.

Too bad the first choice didn't work out marlinman but your fix sounds great. Love me some of them Green Mountain barrels. When I re-barreled my muzzle loader I used a Green Mountain on it. Still shootin' good and it's 20 or so now.

Yeah, and if it has the short follower in the magazine it will hold 6 + 1 in the barrel. You really don't need an extended magazine on a model 12. I'd want a walnut stock on it instead of whatever that blond wood it.

I think that ramp is part of the barrel. Would have been easy to turn off before installing the barrel. I may be wrong and if I am, someone will be along to correct me.
