Has anyone actually taken examples of antique steels, perhaps otherwise unsalvagable frames, cylinders,etc, and subjected them to destructive metallurgical testing? It would be satisfying to see real numbers attached to this discussion. I've not turned up much in the past beside some second hand ref...

Thanks all- I don't actually own one of these..yet at any rate. I have a 92 takedown in 44 wcf ( 1894 mfg) and a pair of 94 Marlins in 44, 1900-1910 thereabout, and I've been looking for a 92 SRC in 44., without finding much out there that wasn't somewhat overpriced IMHO. I have seen a few EL Tigres...

1892 winchester parts in "el tigre"?
Hi all- my first post here. Does anyone know if the Spanish "El Tigre" version of the 1892 winchester is a clone, ie, parts interchangable with minor fitting, or a "copy" of the 1892, ie, dimensional differences in major components like frame, hammer, guides and bolts etc.
