Re: AR Coolaid Partaketh [Completeth]

A white light on an AR isn't an option, it's a necessity. I've been using one for room clearing since 65 lumens was bright. The current standard is 500 or better. If you think one of those is a 'shoot me' indicator, you need both training, and experience being on the other end of one. It won't blin...

Re: Levergun mounting solution?

Fireplace is wood. Doubt it would build up a significant amount of heat with the tile shielding it, but that heat banding issue is of mild concern. So at very least pull it every few months and check it, but in AZ, we don't use the fireplace nearly often enough. It's pretty much for display purposes...

Maybe not so neat if you're one of those mag loading people, but for those of us who are forced to resort to other cartridge carriage methods in the field for .22 ammo (ie; a ziplock baggie) this is a pretty interesting idea. Unless the gun has to be 'flat' for storage or concealment reasons, I really like those angled backup irons . No need to remove a suddenly damaged scope, nor even to 'flip up' a couple of more mechanically-complex sights; you just tip the gun to the 'half-gangsta' position and keep pulling the trig...

Panzercat, That second article was a good read, I learned loads. So, all things being equal, would a .300 WM outperform the 30-06 for the same reason the 30-06 outperforms the .308, the extra velocity? Not simply velocity. Bullet weights help too in certain circumstances. 30.06 can simply obtain mo...

As I recall in my research, anything out to 600-800 yards(?) won't notice the difference. 30.06 comes into its own in longer ranges and heavier bullet weights due to the case dimensions. You probably already considered it, but think about an AK pistol.
