Re: New Sights on My Rossi
I use JB Quick epoxy and that works real well on most things. I am going to get a 17A as I already have a Marbles tang sight in place. I will try the epoxy in the front dovetail. That will hold it! GregT The Gorilla tape worked long enough that I was able to see that I really like this sight!! The ...

Re: New Sights on My Rossi
The original Marbles front sight I had on there was only .375" high so I went with the shortest Lyman 17A, the .404" high one. Like all the sights with my Rossis, I had to take a cold chisel to the bottom edges and strike 3 groves into each side so as to move enough metal over to make the...

I ordered the .464 Lyman from Midway, the European version, hoping it would fit my Rossi 92 round bbl. It arrived today and no joy....it is still way too small. On a more positive note, the Rossi Scout scope mount arrived and it fits perfectly. Scope is now mounted and I will check it out at the ran...

I have the same gun in 22 mag and it is a splendid shooter as well. I really like the Hornady 33 gr loads in the 22 mag. They group consistantly under 1/2 inch at 50 yards for me.

They were 14 and 14.5 grain loads. Is that too much of a reduction?Hobie wrote:You should not reduce H110/W296 loads more than 3-10% below manual maximum. "Several grains" indicates that you are doing so.

Load that XTP over 18 gr. Hodgdon Lil'Gun lit by a small pistol magnum primer. I ran some work up rounds using the XTP's over Lil Gun a month or so ago. My most accurate and fastest load in my 92 with 20" bbl was using 17g LG. The 18 g load started opening up in accuracy. The 16g load was almo...

Steve, I have discovered that the front sight dovetail slot on my Rossi 92 is oversize so that replacement sights do not fit. I tried shimming but that didn't work well at all. If the old stock is unusable and has no further value or use, cut it out with a saber saw/band saw. Then a knife and or chisel will finish wood removal down to the medallion without damaging, but be careful.

I am pretty sure they are 3/8" dovetail fitting. Midway has lots of sights available from all the key players. Might even have a specific replacement for the factory origonal. I would estimate a .4 height to start of with.
