Re: Drew a WY antelope tag, now what?
TedH, Being new to antelope hunting and passingly familiar with the geography of eastern Wyoming, my hunting partner and I actually hunted the wrong portion of the Thunder Basin National Grasslands for antelope! Two years ago we drew tags in Area 18 (second choice area), which contains the northern ...

Re: Drew a WY antelope tag, now what?
Congrats on drawing the tag. I hunted the Thunder Basin National Grasslands two years ago. You'll have a great trip. I didn't draw any tags this season (got a bit ambitious and swung for some really choice areas - maybe over-reached a bit), so I'll look forward to pictures of your hunt.

Re: PRICE CHECK - No 4 MK I*
I picked up the same rifle, a 1943 Longbranch No. 4 Mk.1*, about 6 months ago for $300. Its not unfired, but is in very good condition.

Re: What are your Christmas traditions....and Merry Christmas...
We do Christmas Eve at our house for both mine and my wife's family. Then Christmas dinner at my brother's house with his extended family. In between in presents, gluttony, and general holiday revelry.
Merry Christmas to all.
Merry Christmas to all.

Re: OT: What firearms are you giving for Christmas?
Does it count if I am giving it to myself? If so, then Santa happened across a surplus VZ24 (Czech version of a M98) in 8mm that he's promised to put under the tree for me.

Re: Maine - Mod71 Alaska - Where??
Well, I wasn't born there, so (as I was told numerous times) I could never be a Mainer. But, I did live in Bangor and Orono between 1997 and 2001, while I did my graduate work at UMaine. I wish we never had to leave and we often speak of returning.

Re: Maine - Mod71 Alaska - Where??
I married my lovely wife in Bar Harbor almost 10 years ago. Beautiful country and Mt. Desert Island was one of our favorite hiking spots. Although Baxter State Park is tough to beat. Mod71 Alaska - I am going to guess that is a shot of Camden, but its really a stab in the dark. If I had another 10 g...

Re: Whats the oldest gun you own
Although I am sure that 2.5" artillery shells are hard to find, I was referring to 2.5 inch 12 gauge shells that are safe for this gun. That comment caught my eye. Do you mean 2.5" 12ga shells that are safe for this particular shotgun or literally 2.5" shells?
Thanks,
Oly

Re: Whats the oldest gun you own
I don't have any pics yet, but the oldest I have is a Fox Sterlingworth that was made in 1917. Still does a number of rabbits and birds, but 2.5 in (12 ga) shells have been a challenge to come by.

Re: New guy - wanted to say Hi
Again, many thanks for the welcome. Yes, archaeology can be interesting, but I suspect its a lot like any job in many ways. Sometimes exciting, sometimes less so. At present, I have just three leverguns: a Marlin 336 XLR, Henry .22 standard, and a Marlin 1895 cowboy. A small collection, no doubt, bu...

New guy - wanted to say Hi
I've been lurking about for quite some time. I recently realized that I've begun to accumulate a small collection of leverguns, no doubt influenced by all my reading here. Thought it was about time I stopped lurking and just said hello. Looking forward to learning a lot more and to treating my growi...
