We call Osage Orange, Hedge in my parts. Miles of fence post made from it as it just gets harder and tougher with age. Black locust in the hills and Honey locusts in the river bottom.

My knapping consist of chert rock usually found in creek washes. I attack it with a hammer until something resembling a gun flint fly’s off. Then a little work with a brass or copper rod, and jaw it up. Sparks as good or better than most.

The screwdriver in front of the wheel chock was a visual clue to the pilot that the aircraft was armed, fueled and all ready to go -- just in case a "scramble" was called while the Crew Chief or Flight Chief were elsewhere. Very interesting 8) We just left a beer bottle in front of the ch...

I machine my own for .001 to .0015 under sized bullet dia, so pretty much the same here.marlinman93 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2017 7:45 pm Even with proper bell on the mouth, I still use larger expanders than he suggests. Brass has some spring back, and I prefer no more than .001" under bullet diameter.

For larger cast it is usually all about the expander die. I use the LEE universal expander with my own manufactured expander plugs optimized for the dia bullet I’m using. The so called expander plugs that come with the LEE die are nothing more than mouth belling plugs. That being said the RCBS cowbo...
