Re: Need advice on a new Rossi 92
I have owned two Rossi 92's. The first was a 20" stainless .44 Magnum that had the infamous overbore. It could be a little picky about cycling certain ammo and I sold it because of the overbore. According to Nate Kiowa Jones the new production Rossi in .44 Mag. does not have the overbore proble...

When I saw the topic line, the first thing that popped into my head was Winchester 333/555. You mentioned that in your post, as have others. I agree. It shoots very well in my Henry, and everything else. I rate it as the best bulk ammo I have found. Federal 510 (aka Lightning) are good also.

I have basically the same rifle. It started out as the non-thumbhole varmint model, but I have since swapped a Boyd's thumbhole laminate for the original stock. Since the swap I haven't been able to get the accuracy I had before, so I need to bed it when I get a chance. They are very accurate rifles...

I gave my son a Red Ryder when he was 6, the same age that I was when I got one.
When he turned 16 I gave him a Marlin 336, 30-30. So I made sure his first two guns were lever actions . I think he wants a bolt action rifle next, but he still likes his 336.

Yes. The long barrel reduces the velocity of the burnt gases as they exit the muzzle because it has extra volume in the bore to absorb more of the expanding gases. The bullet then has less pressure pushing it as it leaves the barrel resulting in a less violent pressure wave from the exiting gases. A...
