Well it's been rebarreled and new wood but the date is 1871 for this Sweed Roller.
I have the twin in the shop now giving it the same treatment It is dated 1873.
Other than these my 1892 --25-20 cal turns 100 years this year!!

I load a gas checked 500 gr Lee bullet in a custom Ruger Num 1 in 45-70
It shoots really well though recoil is stout. The barrel has a 16 twist so that should be getting close to what a Mod 70 458 will be

I just ordered one of these things and am curious to know if they are drilled and tapped for a reciever sight??
I can deal with the rebounding hammer and tang safety but my eyes won't handle a buckhorn anymore.

I prefer the slightly longer barrel 22" But that being said I don't want to carry a 26" either.
There will be a tiny bit more muzzle blast with the 18" guide gun but this topic all boils to personal preferance!! :mrgreen:

I like the mechanics gloves sold in places like Home depot and auto supply stores .
You can find differant thickness with some type of faux leather fingers and palms.
They are very much like a batters or golf glove though cheaper I think.

When walking around the woods either early or late in the day I tend to need as much light on the front bead as I can get. So all my levers are without hoods. But at the range on stationary targets I prefer globe type sights as far as Irons go. So the Sharps and Highwall wear their hoods.

I use a Moultrie I-40 that is the one with the Infared flash. So its a little more discreet. Than a reg flash model. No deer pics to show but I used to have pics of the best fed Blue Jays in Ontario.

I have a 99 in 250-3000 and without a doubt it is the most accurate lever gun I've ever shot.
