Hobie, my receiver shines like a black mirror. Like a Weatherby blue. Your receiver isn't as shiny as the buttstock.

OT: getting rid of shine

A flock of ducks saw me yesterday I am convinced because of the shiny receiver of my Handi-Rifle. The shotgun barrel is matte finished. Is there a cheap way to get rid of the shine on the receiver? Some of that bake-on stuff from Brownells?

Chances are those old shells he fired had corrosive primers. Clean the bore fast!!! I use a couple of water/wet patches followed by a couple of dry patches, then a slightly oiled patch.

One of the gun rags gave the Gibbs Enfield 45-70 a great review way back when, and I wanted one bad bad bad. Now, knowing about the feeding problems, I ain't so sure. www.surplusrifle.com gave it a good review but noted a 100% failure rate to feed the 3rd round from the magazine.

Fluorescent lights put out 3x the UV as regular light bulbs. Unless they fix them, we'll have to put all paper items, books, etc., behind closed doors. Ever notice how the spines of books in a bookcase crumble and the rest of the books stay like new? UV light did it.

Surplus WC820 is a good medium-high-load to heavy-load powder in 357 mag rifle. Dirt cheap, too, if you can find it. It didn't work for me with 38 special-level loads. Without pressure, it gives high extreme spreads, squib loads, etc.
