Re: What do you all think about this 1873?

Only 38-40s and 44-40s had the trapdoor for the wooden cleaning rod. The rod was too large for a 32-20 bore so therefore no need for a trapdoor. $1500.00 would be my guess. I have an 1873 in .32-20, circa the 1890's and it is all original, with the exception of the front sight (which I replaced). I...

I cannot say enough good things about Springfield Armory 1911. I have had two Mil Spec models and they are all you need and nuthin' you don't! I have never had a stovepipe, feed jam, broken anything and they both shot to point of aim. Outstanding guns and the price can't be beat! http://i50.photobuc...

Keep it all original! You will kill the value (and the charachter) of the rifle, if you change something. I agree with Rimfire. What is that cover on the upper tang? I am not sure if that is original, maybe the tang cracked around a screw hole, thus necessitating the plate. I would nto even mess wit...

While this may be considered blaspheme, I don't find the 1911 platform appealing at all. The thin grip is hard for me to get a solid grip on, the heavy weight for the limited rou...

Mine has an ivory bead and the black plastic butt plate with the Marlin logo and "knurling"...for lack of a better word.

Also, the lever is a bit loose. It snugs up to the stock, but it easily drops free and has about an inch of free play before it engages the action.

Is this common?
