Boy's/Camp Axe

I've had this head for several years. I believe I paid $2.00 for it. I found a hickory handle, flame tempered it, and soaked it in BLO. The final finish is Min-Wax Satin Tung Oil Finish. Wood and metal wedges were soaked with Super Glue after installation and then covered with clear epoxy. http://i3...

Re: Almost Finished #3 Ruger

I'd love to have one in .30-40. They've gotten very expensive. When loaded sensibly the .45-70's recoil seems fine to me.

Almost Finished #3 Ruger (target pics added)

I got a good deal on this .45-70 because about 1/2 the finish was missing on the stock. Started with BLO and finished with 8 coats of hand rubbed Min-Wax Satin Tung Oil Finish. I'm still waiting on a front sight, Leupold QD Rings, and a Leupold 1.5-5X20 scope. I had one when I was young and I missed...

I'd have to disagree, the Ruger #3 is a great rifle and about the only Ruger I really care for. It only kicks bad if you don't know what you're doing.

I've owned a lot of Ruger firearms. The longguns esp. have been very disappointing in the accuracy dept.

A very well known gun writer once stated "If Ruger ever produced an accurate rifle, it must still be at the factory."

Marlin is not closing down permanently. Marlin is a brand name, not a free-standing company. Marlin leverguns are produced at the same Ilion NY facility as Remington, DPMS, H&R, Bushmaster, and a few others, in Ilion NY. When the group bought Marlin, they bought a dying concern, about 3 years a...

I picked up a bunch of 405 grain hard cast bullets this weekend. Today I bought some Lee Dies and 100 StarLine cases. I'm gonna try 30 or 31 grains of IMR-4198 to duplicate the Remington 405 grain factory load. What'ca think?
