Re: And now I love the man even more
Kurt Roosevelt used to sniff around a German immigrant woman that lived in half the farm house that friends of mine owned. We referred to a thicket as Kurt's Thicket, his favorite place to hunt. As for the German lady, her and her sister survived the Lusitania sinking. Lots of interesting stories up...

Some of the #1s were 9.3x 74 also, I've pinned for one but I'm in no rush to buy one as I doubt I'm going to Africa anytime soon and my 338WM or 375 H&H have it covered.

Does anyone have a .25 round ball mould?
Looking to sell it or willing to cast some for me?
I'd like to try some as buckshot but I don't want to jump into it and find out it's not worth the effort.
Sure I can buy 3buck but where's the fun in that?

Re: Europeans and their 9.3 combo rifles
I knew a guy that collected drillings, he had every gauge/caliber combo you could imagine. The idea is one gun to handle birds to beasts while in the field. Since the European's aren't allowed a 1 of each like we are they make the best of both worlds. The 9.3 x 74 is closer to 375 H&H in power l...

Re: 4/5 oz shotload in 410ga
Just for the heck of it I took an empty Winchester 3" 410 hull and filled it to the top with 7¹/²shot. 485.5 grains of shot to fill it. That's 1oz plus 48 grains of shot or about 1/5 ounce. So once powder in loaded, wad it's awful hard to get much more than 11/16 to 3/4 oz of shot into it. With...

3" 410 normally uses a shot load of 11/16 oz. Granted most times the velocity is about 1200fps. My 20ga 7/8 oz load I keep the velocity down around 1100-1150 just to help keep pressures lower for my 110yr old Parker. My 12ga competition load is 24gr (approximately 13/16oz) is pushed along with ...

Yes I know it's the red headed stepchild but it's the best of both worlds, heavier bullets than a 357, flatter shooting than a 45 .
