Re: The Winchester Arms Collectors Association

I am a WACA member and this coming July will be my 26th WACA Cody show in a row. Likely the single largest gathering of Winchesters under one roof at any one time. While a number of antique gun shows are good (like last weekend in Denver) Cody is dedicated to primarily Winchester. The shows proximit...

Beautiful examples of what quality products Winchester could offer. Showing a bit of honest use, documenting their experiences through time. Rifles with fancy wood and checkering without pistol grips are kind of a rare bird. Nicely done Kirk.

KirkD's recent post of his beautiful early casecolored 45-70 1886 reminded me to again post some Winchester eye candy as well. If I understand you correctly, you are taking your measurements from the wrong locations. Barrel length is measured from the rear of the chamber not the takedown flange. That will add 3/4" to your barrel measurement making it correct. On takedowns, the center of the rear sight dovetail should b...

I think you will find .405 bullets will give you poor accuracy as the bore of your rifle is likely at least .406 and could be as large as .409 or maybe a smidge bigger. I generally shoot .408-.409" gas checked cast bullets with 5744. For best results you may have to thin the neck of your brass,...
