I can't seem to find a an early 1900's catalog just now either. However, a reprint of the 1920 catalog lists the 200 grain bullet at 2050 fps.

I guess everyone has an opinion... but I just have to disagree with a post above. It was stated that a Pedersoli was "just as nice as a Shiloh". In my opinion, there is no comparison. The wood to metal fit, quality of wood, metal finish and overall craftmanship of the Shiloh is way better ...

It is a huge improvement over dialup. Others who say they did not improve much must have dialup that was way better than I was able to get. Uploads and downloads speeds are many times faster. I would not consider going back to my phone line. Another bonus is not having your main or second phone line...

Unless your the rifle was special ordered from the factory, there should be no "matching numbers". Some special ordered, highly optioned guns can be seen with assembly numbers but this is fairly rare. I have never seen a standard rifle with "numbers", matching or not.

Kirk, I buy Cast Performance Bullet's, .410 diameter, 255 and 260 gr WFNGC bullets. They are available from a number of sources, Midway being just one. These are manufactured to be shot in the .41 Magnum Pistol Cartridge. I run them through a .409 sizer die and shoot them in my original 86 40-65's a...

Posting of recent Range Season per KirkD suggestion

Recently I pulled a couple of rifles out of the safe just for fun. Due to snow on my own range, I was limited to 60 yards. First rifle is a 1893 vintage Winchester 1886 in 40-65. Load was a 260 grain Cast Performance GC FN pushed by a charge of IMR 3031. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c101/3855/I...

I don't find the price surprising at all... I think it will go higher. Guns in this condition are hard to find and there is a lot of competition out there for them.

$800 is way too high for a reblued, rebarreled 92. Less than 1/2 of that price would be more appropriate... For $800, you should be able to find a original unaltered speciman, with a shootable bore, that will also increase in value over the years. Despite the asking prices on the net, and what you s...

Trying to place a value on a Gun you have never seen is an impossible task.... but consider this. Any original, unaltered, Winchester takedown in descent condition will start between $600-1000. As condition rises, the price rises rapidly. Given this gun also had a tang sight worth minimum of $125, I...

This gun very likely was a legitimate Model 55. As mentioned before, after sn 5000, 55's were serial numbered with Model 1894 numbers. At that time Model 94 serials were way higher than 5000. Additionally. some factory produced Model 55's can be seen with a 55 barrel and a 94 receiver or just the op...

In 1924 the Model 1894 rifle (not carbine) was discontinued and the 55 was introduced. Twenty four inch barrels, straight grips, half mags shotgun butts as well as the takedown feature was the standard configuration. Solid frames did not become standard until 1930. Guns until serial number 5000 were...

In my opinion, those pieces made from the beginning of production to 1940 are the most desirable from a workmanship standpoint. Quality started to slip post WWII and bottomed out in 1965. As for anything made since then, I challenge anyone to compare, side by side, a prewar gun and a anything made s...

It is common to see upper tangs D & T'ed up to about the 1,350,000 s.n. range. Your gun is correct except for the elevator, an easy and expensive fix. It's amazing what you got for your money from Winchester in those days. A beautifully contructed rifle that would last several lifetimes. Congrat...
