Jim I was born and raised out there and have a rather love/hate relationship where the desert is concerned. While beautiful, there is a lot of bad hard country out there that will put the hurt on the unwary in a hurry. Mescalero used to refer to it as the badlands.

Thanks guys. Nath I bet that recipe would work with duck. No squirrels at my place...no oaks trees, mostly mesquite trees. I can occasionally pop a duck off the tanks when water is in season :D

Always liked the looks of these. One of my dove hunting pals has had one forever and is crazy for it. He is about 85yo, played football for the Army. Good score.

Seems any old timer in central Texas knows him and will tell a tale or two. He gave one of my coffee pals a sawed off he'd confiscated from dope heads. His first book "One Ranger" is a great read any Levergunners would like. His trapper is in 30 30 as I recall.

A similar incident in San Marcos A few years back. 3 enterprising young gentlemen stormed a guys house with guns looking for dope I think. ALL were shot some did not survive. I recall the homeowner had a G-17 handy :shock:

Steve the Nimitz museum in Fredericksburg Texas is sure worth the trip. IT was rededicated a while back by Big Bush,
I first saw it as a kid in a scout troop. IT has a small Jap submarine that is really cool, and a number of vintage guns, gear etc.

Old no7 my GO to method for shallow scratches is micromesh. Been using this for 20+ years, it is inexpensive an an excellent product, a lifesaver and moneymaker in my repair shop. An old friend in N Cal was a sheep rancher. He averaged 60 coyote a year, and was on the 3rd barrel for his win 94. He was a strapping fellow who at 90 yo would toat a blacktail uphill by his self.

6pt I saw a Parker in 28 yesterday at a gun show in Dripping Springs. I noticed the nice wood and 6500 price tag and kept moving. There was an old dude there with a nice ax collection. He was asleep :D

Talked the wife into bird hunting one year, we looked at the ranch from some high ground about 20 minutes before we got there and saw the lightning and the rain coming. Rained out again, but being rained out turned out a lot better with a lady along 8)

Local dentist said I needed a procedure on a tooth, but would just take the hygienist 15 min to complete, for 300 bucks. Being a quick study, I figured that rate at 900/hr for the assistant. Id rather go to my shop, put my head in a vice, and pull it with linemans pliers. Never went back, see em aro...
