Thanks for the kind responses guys! Miss Rose shot this deer with about 5-10 minutes of shooting time left, no time for a pic in the field - I field dressed it by flashlight. I did get a few pics of her and the deer at home with Miss Rose's new digital camera, but I'll be danged if I know how to get...

1st Deer for Miss Rose

Two weeks ago Rose (11 years) said she would like to shoot a deer this year. She has never fired a centerfire rifle before, but has a lot of trigger time with a CZ 22 mag she shoots well. After sighting in a stainless mini 14 at 50 yards she shot a quarter sized 3 shot group, after 20 rounds of prac...

Re: Texas Deer Hunting Rifles

My old Dad gave me a Winchester Canadian 30-30 when I was 12. I have hunted Texas deer, turkey, and pigs for almost 35 years with it and shot a real fat doe last week in the neck at 47 yards with 150 Corelockt. While I have other rifles I need no other. One day my boy (7) will get this gun, if he is...

Vision and hearing are both poor in these animals, you can sneak up on em easily from behind. They are hard dyin critters though, even with a shot gun to the head they make a real ruckus on the way out. You might just try singing to em.

Re: whos going turkey hunting this year! last years pics

I saw a fair pile of turkeys two weeks ago in W. Texas, about 120-30, and about 50-60 pigs (6 that were only as big as your hat) and about 100 deer. Those deer were in the field eating rocks i guess as there was NO grass -- but it has rained there since, Thank God. Also saw some BBQ sized Barbados s...
