Re: Unconfirmed, But A Warning Just The Same

Owning a Marlin 1895CB in .45-70 and especially a Henry Big Boy in .44 Magnum this subject is of special interest to me - especially since I haven't shot either one yet - as a matter of fact, tomorrow is the planned day to shoot both of them. Although i thought I read it in the Henry Owner's Manual ...

Re: Henry Rifles

I traded into a Henry Big Boy .44 magnum - because it was there, I thought it looked good, and it's a nice companion to my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum. If I have any problems with it when I do get to shoot it (laid up from a total knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago; had the other one replaced...

Re: OT- tv show "Pawn Stars" on history channel

In my opinion, the only thing worth watching on the show is the personal interaction between grandpa, dad, son, and Chumley (I think he's a nephew). Someone on another forum was in Vegas recently and went to the shop - they restricted him to 15 minutes inside the store; he got a photo, outside, take...

.38 Super

.38 super is much more problematic than 9 mm. What? I have three 1911s in .38 Super; never, ever a problem. The three are a Colt Combat Commander lightweight, Colt Series 70 MKIV Government, and a Rock Island 1911A1. I've got 4 different .38 Super rounds, including Winchester Silvertips. I've never...

Re: My name is Tim and I am powerless

Actually when you look closely at some of the "deals" I've made over the last 5 years you could make a case to call me "Horsethief Tim". Here's a few more: Walked into my local gun shop just as they are buying a "rifle" from a woman. I say "what you got in the box&...

He's on a much worse scale, then the guy who does gun shows around Michigan who seems to have an overabundance of CMP M1 Garand and Carbines. At least he displays the CMP Certificates with the guns...

Re: My name is Tim and I am powerless

Looks like you know how to trade all right, fine looking 45-70. Who Me? Here's the list of what I traded for this year: Rock Island 1911A1 Parkerized Kimber Tactical Pro II Smith and Wesson MP15-22 Sterling Semi-auto 9mm Carbine Charles Daly M5 Commander (double stack .45) Ruger 10/22 Race Gun Roma...

over firearms. Since I am on a medical leave of absence (and no pay until the VA does their thing) instead of buying a gun I have taken to trading off my "back of the closet guns that I don't shoot" for something different. Between the gun shop I frequent and I we refer to it as trading in...

Re: Our Favorite Engraver Strikes Again

gosh - I never saw that model gun before but it reeks of turd...I am not surprised there is no factory letter; I imagine it would read like this: Dear Sir, We have never seen one of our original rifles destroyed as badly as yours. We would like to recommend several quality engravers for you to consi...

Chuck - I was surprised when I picked it up in the gun shop, lowered the lever, and found that it was a falling block action single shot. Maybe not a surprise for you; but it was for me! :o :D

It may be a while before I get to the range; I am between knee surgeries; on January 8th I had my right knee replaced and on Friday the 26th I'll have the left knee replaced. Its hard to shoot a long gun when walking with a walker...

The holster and belt are made by a very good friend of mine, Sandy Morrissey of Georgia. Sandy was a WWII Enlisted Naval Aviator; a courier pilot, at some small non-descript Navy Airfield in Arkansas he had to be cut out of the airframe with what would be then called the jaws of life. He didn't walk...

Lever Action Squad yesterday... I used to have 2 Marlin 336s - one in .30-30 and the other .45-70. I sold both of them several years ago and have missed the .45-70. In keeping with my not buying, but trading guns for guns, today I traded into a brand new Henry Bigboy, in .44 Magnum. I also have a Ru...
