Blaine, Please explain how Col. Cooper convinced you to go to the .45-70. Rusty <>< Several years ago, he was very high on the caliber. His favorite was the Wild West Take Down, but he thought the Guide Gun, especially with the ghost ring, was dandy for just about anything one could imagine. Being ...

What's The Fascination With Small Groups?
I'm not talking about the competitive shooting or benchrest shooters, but I sure agree with the late Col Cooper. Shoot one shot...Did you hit it?.....Good group!! If I'm shooting at a pop can at 100yds (3x5"??) and hit it.....dangit, that's a good group  I find myself shooting less and les...

Well it seems there would be a range advantage but I think you are right the recoil starts to really climb and quickly becomes very uncomfortable. The steel butt plate is a real joy. The .45-70 is a proven killer and dead is dead right? 1886. I might have been asking the wrong question......You wer...

SubDoc, You Sold Me A Sure Nuff Winner!!!!!!!!
Dang, I got about 25 rounds through that 1886 ELR today.......Gentlemen, I have a new hunter. Using the Lyman 66 as a ghost ring, I was hitting minute of deer, offhand, on stuff at 180yds or so.....Now, I understand....maybe the Marlins won't get as much use as before.....

Re: Marlin 57M seen at Gun Show, $350 a fair price
What do you reckon? Wonderful, 95% condition EXCEPT somebody had installed some butt-ugly sling swivels. If it's the rifle you want, go for it. If you want a nice 22M, look for a 9422M, or a Marlin 1894 in 22 mag. I just never cared for the Levermatics.....I just don't think they're worth what they...

OT: Sheridan Streak
Recently got a Sheridan Silver Streak from a Formite. Nice Rifle! Hit's hard and is accurate. Question: If you pump it up, how long will it hold that pressure close to 100%? AND, is it even advisable to keep it pumped up, without discharging, for periods of time (hours? days? etc)
