Killing Formulas / How much is enough?

Hey folks, I'm planning on picking up a Ruger BH in .41 mag in a month or so. I reload and plan on working up some loads for whitetail and hogs. However, I keep wondering, "How much is enough"? I've read through and tried out numerous killing formulas only to be told that they're imperfect...

Hey Folks, I've been thinking this may be the caliber to get for deer / hog hunting and woods carry. The Ruger BH in 6 1/2" looks pretty sweet and just right for Maryland Deer hunting laws. I'm drawn to this caliber because it seems to be just right in terms of power, recoil, and trajectory. Al...

Hey Folks,

I've been contemplating whether or not to buy a Ruger Blackhawk but am unsure if I like the grips. I love the design but some of the models' grips seem a bit small for my large hands. Does anyone have experience with any aftermarket Blackhawk grips?

You read right. However, I've also read/heard that not all .44 Mag rifles are 1-38 so you can find one that isn't and use that. My Contender 21" barrel is one such, although not a repeater. IME, one really doesn't need heavier bullets for deer, hogs, goats, and such. Now, if you intend to use ...

Hi all,

I've been reading that because Marlin has a 1:38 twist on their 1894 in .44 mag, you can't shoot bullets over 270 gr. and expect decent accuracy. I'd love to have one and load it up w/ heavy bullets ( 325 gr. ) for hunting, but am now unsure if that would work. Any thoughts?
