I have a Savage 114 30-06 in the safe, but I always seem to pick up an old Savage to take to the stand. Can't see over 100 yds from it, so this 1920 Savage 1899H .303 Savage seems to tag along the most. 20" barrel and only a couple ounces over 6lbs.

Neat project Ted. I have 3 250-3000s, from 1916, 1943 and 1978. The 1943 has a Griffin and Howe mount with a Unertl 6x on it. It will do 1- 1 1/2 all day with the right load. My nod goes to my 1956 Savage 99F (Featherweight) .300 Savage. It does everything I need. It's light, well-balanced. Requires less powder to reload and approaches a .308 with less recoil on a light rifle.

Of the 99Cs, the the 7mm-08 is the least seen, followed by the 284 Win and 22-250. It is the only Savage model 99 that was chambered in 22.-250. But, IMO, that price is crazy high. Much harder to find than the 308 and 243, but I would not call it rare.
