Re: Happy Birthday mellonhead.
Thanks guys. I'm kinda late to the party!!! I did pick up a new to me lever gun on my birthday. A 1971 vintage Marlin 1894 44 Mag. So far only shot it enough to check function, but all looks good. Need to fire up the lead pot and get some bullets cast up. Thanks again.

Re: 7x57 Rimmed?
You should be able to use 444 Marlin brass if you need brass. I used used it in a custom Encore barrel in 7x57 that I counter bored to use the 444 brass. Worked great. I ran it through a 8x57 sizer die first.

Re: Levergun Sling Solution
A friend of mine has been using these for years on his lever guns without swivel studs. http://www.cabelas.com/product/triple-k-slip-on-muzzleloader-sling/740543.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fblack-powder-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100207%2FNo-0%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104218380%3FrecordsPerPage%3D18&am...

Re: Lever rifles and Scout scopes
I have always wanted to try a scout scope setup. Are the 2X pistol scopes as easy to use as the designated scout scopes?

Re: Cast bullet question
Thanks for the welcome guys. I just joined the forum last week. When I clicked on the link above I was surprised to see the old girl! I figured this was an omen to make my first post. Again, thank for the welcome.

Re: Cast bullet question
I used an alloy of straight clip on wheel weights. Only ever loaded it to about 1100 fps. Used mostly HS6 and Trailboss. The loaded rounds will look like 410 brass shotgun shells. The bullets get seated deep in the case like a slug in a shotgun shell. Supper time now, I'll post more later.

Re: Cast bullet question
I am the one that actually put that gun together. I took the barrel off and sent it to Bowen for the barrel work. I did the rest of the work. It is extremely accurate with a RCBS 45-255-SWC and HS6. Shot loads are very comparable to 2.5" 410 loads. Those grips are American Holly. If you enjoy p...
