I shot it with 50 gr. FG and a .458 dia. 310 cast. Two wads and a grease pee between. It shot good, slight kick, sparks, smoke and fun. It sure is nice to clean. I would have used less powder, but I hate to mess with my BP drop tube measure, it's set up for two drops of powder in my 45-110, if one ...

I had this installed on my Marlin 45-70 and it has worked out great. Not too big and in my opinion, looks good. The "using it in cold weather with gloves" is valid but I personally don't like shooting with gloves on. If time allows, I always remove them prior to taking a shot hunting. htt...

A couple years ago I watched the temp dip to -52 C, or about -62 F before factoring wind chill. I don't do lots of hunting and shooting at that temperature, but it is a consideration. Needless to say even when its not that cold, it can be pretty chilly and not using gloves could cost some loss of f...

Thanks for the explanation guys. I would stock up on the .35 Remington brass I think. Could you not just seat the cast bullets deeper and still be ahead on the case volume? Or does deep seating a cast pose a detriment to accuracy due to pulling out of the brass?

In Alaska, there are too many brown bear in many places right now. The Karelian Bear Dogs are pretty impressive. Well, I must confess, as a gun nut since the age of 10, I've never heard of a 35/30-30 (and why not call it a 35-30?). Sounds interesting, but then I think of a cartridge with a straighter body called the .35 Remington. Or the bigger bulleted .375 Win. or the smaller caliber .32 Special. But mostly ...

We live in good times as far as optics are concerned. A $300 scope today, is probably a match for a $500 from the 70s (in 1970's currency) IMO. Where some of the cheaper scopes fall down a little is changing zero over the magnification range (who cares; zero at highest power, and the close shots won...

How does a double barrel have just one trigger? Does it fire both at the same time? Or is it for external hammers, and it fires the barrel you have cocked? For a guy with normal hands, the large round loop levers offer nothing really. For men with huge hands or for those that use them for stunts like John Wayne or Chuck Connors they work OK. I'd really love one just like that Bearcat conversion. Here though, we can't get it because its 32 cal, and the bbl. would have to be 4.2"+.
If I could, one with a 3.5" bbl. would be cool.
I would probably just as soon have one in .38 Spl. or .357. I wonder if 5 would fit?

That shotgun is regulated with a barrel wedge that is part of the rib assembly. Cutting it can make your patterns shoot - well - wherever.
