Nice stories, Mike, great shot! How did you like the #1 German post scope? You got the first kill with that rifle, congratulations.

Is there a difference in barrels on the 1894 .45 and the 1894 CB .45? As I understand it the former has the micro groove and the CB has ??????? Do you folks that have one, have any opinion as to the shootability and accuracy of either. I am going to buy a 1894 not CB or rebarrel a .44 to .45 and wan...

I see an occasional post about handguns so thought I would add one more. David Clements on 1 Dec 2007 quit working on double actions, suggesting everyone go to Bowen. I think I got mine to him the last couple days of November, didn't even know about the upcoming cutoff date. In any event this was th...

Read the post heading and immediately the picture of Gus slapping that bartender with his Walker popped into my head. Still my favorite television production of all time.

Marlin 336 44 Mag
This has probably been discussed before but I just found one of these rifles. It seems to me that it is a favored model due to the round bolt design. Could all you folks remind me why I should pick this rifle up instead of a 1894 in 44 Mag.
Thanks Ron

This has been an amazing post. It is rare for a relatively new post to have this many replies. Love Texas, but being raised in El Paso, spent a lot of time in New Mexico. City of Rocks was our families own private play ground, dirt road off of Hwy 180 long before it got gravel and then became paved....

I have five. Two #1's seven inch, one #3 five inch, one #11 4.5 inch and a fake Randall. The fake is made of a Randall blade blank that was supposedly made by AG Russell. The stamping is not as good the blade is not shaped the style of the #11 it is supposed to be, but the metal is still great. Havi...

Mine is from a friend and was referring to flying off an aircraft carrier. Everybody wants to say they have done it, just most don't want to keep doing it. Ron Ron; Have flown from an aircraft carrier a couple of times. IT IS A HOOT! However, your friend is most likely correct. I know I have had my...

My family came from Wisconsin. We came to Texas the first time in 1952 when my father was stationed at Fort Bliss. There were seven of us kids, my brother was the oldest then me and five sisters eventually. When my brother went into the Marine Corps in 1961 he was from Wisconsin. When he came home f...

All mentioned are terrific. But Hombre with Paul Newman and Richard Boone is on a level by itself. When Newman asks Boone "I got a question, how you gonna get back down that hill?", I watch the movie just to hear that line.
