All I see is another big loop lever gun with a cross bolt safety and an ugly front sight. It looks like a knock-off Marlin. I would hope that it's a slick and high quality gun but if I wanted another lever action I'd just pick a used 336 off the rack at the LGS.

If it were a very collectable gun or one with a mint bore I would go with pure lead and a good lube (SPG). For anything somewhat less than that I use dug range lead which seems to run between Brinell 7 and 9. Actually the harder lead probably wouldn't hurt at all, it's just that I can't bring myself...

Hoyt does cartridge guns too and his prices are better than the one quoted above. Work is first class. He lined a damascus 12 gauge double for me a few years back for $250 for both barrels with chokes. He has done 6 barrels for me, 4 of which are muzzleloaders and he had to lengthen 2 of those.

It aids concealability too, with that C clamp on it I could throw it in my tool box and nobody would ever know. At the range I could just mount a vise on my bench and have a dual purpose devise; a clamp for the seal and a "Ranson" rest for the revolver. Someone must have really spent a lot...

I'm with you on the yellow fog lights, they are far more effective than white but try to find a set today and I wouldn't be surprised to find they were illegal. The fog lights on all the cars today will not work with high beam and here in VA it's illegal to have them on at the same time as high beam...

I would think it would be no different from zeroing a vintage 94 with a side mounted scope. The only actual concern is the location of the muzzle at the exact instant the bullet exits. Given the distance between the sights and the muzzle the line of sight and the bullet's path would be converging up...

I used one a little back in my early teens and still have it as well as one for 10 gauge. They often have a number stamped in or cast on to indicate the gauge. The entire reloading set is difficult to find intact. They worked well and modern versions are available today.

Sears model 54, that explains a lot. I had forgotten they even existed, good gun to customize. Is the left side drilled & tapped for a Sears scope mount? If so here's a sight to cover them up with:

My factory SRC has a 9.5" button end magazine (3 round) and a 9" forearm. How do you figure you can get along without a barrel band to hold the forearm after you shorten the magazine or are you referring to the front band only? You have a carbine with a forearm cap?
