Re: Propane tank fun
Trade 'em for an empty welding gas tank. Have the tank cleaned out/pumped out/etc. so it's full of NOTHING. Double check that the tank is truly empty. Now check it again. After checking it a third time, chop the top off of the tank. Drill a hole toward the bottom that'll fit a fuse. Find a bowling c...

This is obviously a 'non-flyer' question - but what's the origin of the "shirt-tail" thing...? From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_solo_flight Traditions Several traditions have developed in the USA around "soloing", including drenching the student with water and cutting off...

Two reasons:foxtrapper wrote:Why do you want a takedown conversion
1. Easier to transport and ship in a smaller case, especially useful in these new days of airline fees for EVERYTHING.
2. I've always wanted one.

Just curious to know what barrel lengths you use and what velocities you expect. I've found references to 10" (only one reference to somebody using 10"), 12" (maybe two or three references to folks using 12", and T/C has 2 or 3 of the 12" barrels on their site), 14" (se...

WTK: Who are QUALITY lever action gunsmiths?
I've got a stainless Marlin 1895 inbound and want to have a few things modified. Specifically, I know I want it made into a takedown, want a reasonable winter-glove-size loop (not a huge for-show-only loop) installed, and want the barrel shortened. The sights will also have to be drifted back due to...

It just dawned on me, this is another Mary Ann or Ginger sorta thing. Mary Ann is sorta like a straight stock. Nice lines, and comfy. While a pistol grip is like Ginger. Curvy, and overtly sexy. Funny thing is I'm a straight stock, Mary Ann kinda guy. Wonder if the there is any kind of similar corr...

Each fully loaded 57mm shell takes 1.1 pounds of IMR 5010. The IMR 5010 is set off by 175 grains of 1F cannon blackpowder inside of a primer tube. The 1F in the primer tube is set off by one standard .50 BMG primer. Mike Holy smokes Batman :o How often do you fire that thing? The first time is this...

My reply under an assumed name, and some of you may disagree with me: Okay, let's think about this for a second. Wolves are natural PREDATORS. I suspect some people don't like that, but it's reality. Another reality is that wolves are CARNIVORES. They are not algae eating fish, they are not grass or...

I own a live US M18A1 57mm recoilless rifle. Here's a picture of it on my 1917 tripod (correct) with one shell. It's a registered NFA weapon (Destructive Device) because its bore is 2.24", well over the standard half inch bore legal limit. It's the same paperwork and $200.00 tax as for a machin...

Could you help me pick out my new Marlin 45-70 rifle? Here's the scoop. I prefer the looks of the straight stock but the pistol grip stock feels better to me. That said, I haven't gotten to fire either style of stock. Two people have told me that the straight stock has less felt recoil compared to t...
