My GP100 measures 1.608”, while my RBH measures 1.640”. Both are 357 Mag.

Incidentally, my Old Model Vaquero in 45 Colt measures 1.700”.

Check out aniline dyes. They come in powder and liquid form and can be mixed with water or alcohol. You can also mix them for the “perfect” color.

A good resource is “Understanding Wood Finishes” by Bob Flexner.

The Greenhill formula is what you're thinking of.

At those velocities with the bullets typically fired in these guns, I can't see it "over-stabilizing".

Something to consider: check to see if there's enough room to install them up front in the first place. Second and third generation Toyota Tacomas cannot accept chains on the front wheels due to insufficient clearance between the tire and the upper control arm. Your manual should tell you.

For almost everything I need a knife for, a 3.5" to 4.5" drop point has proven to be ideal. Anything more than 5" is unwieldy to me for more delicate tasks.

Interesting. I made something very similar by putting a clip point on a 10" Bellotto machete and slightly reshaping the handle. The Bellotto is only 75% or so as thick as the condor.
