If you're going to carry it with a round in the chamber, then yes use the half cock. That's what it was designed for.

When I worked as a whitewater rafting guide, we sometimes make staff only trips on a full moon. Some had the tradition of doing the "moon lighters" fully nude. I preferred a life jacket and swimming trunks. :)

I had a new 3" Python, but sold it. I don't really see a need for a 3" 357 magnum unless I was going to carry it concealed. The 6" is ideal to me for a hunting or target gun though.

A friend of mine has a wet thumber and I thought about buying one, but my dry tumbler seems to work well enough. Truthfully, I seldom clean my brass, although perhaps I should do it a little more often.

He writes that stuff to be different and get clicks on his articles. Facebook is full of it. It's mostly pitching whatever guns and brands of ammo that he's getting discounted, free, or who's paying the advertising bucks. I'm not a fan.

I'd have to say "44 magnum" just because I'm a big fan of the cartridge, but I have to admit the 357 magnum would be a bit more flexible provided it would feed 38 specials reliably.

I believe the first successful suppressor was patented as "silencer" by Maxim, so I can see where they get it from.

For actual hunting, I don't want anything over 7.5". 6" would normally be my ideal barrel length for hunting, but I do have a 5" S&W 686 that just seems to balance perfectly and still gets decent velocity.

Very good to excellent can cover a pretty big range of condition. Sounds like a good price for true "excellent", but too high for true "very good". I'd look at the closed auctions and compare condition to what you're looking at.

I had a rifle stolen by USPS several years ago. It last showed scanned in Pittsburgh, then just disappeared in the system. The Postal Inspector I spoke to agreed it had been stolen by a postal employee, but it's never been found.

I'd think you'd have enough velocity to penetrate a rattler's head, but I'd be more comfortable carrying rat shot in a 22LR handgun.

I like the XTP bullets, but find most of my 44's shoot the heavier grained XTP's better at 100 yards. I like the idea of a flat shooting light bullet, but my guns geneally favor the heavier not flat shooting bullets :)

I once tried to zero a new 22 magnum I'd bought. I loaded the magazine up and fired a several rounds and still couldn't get anywhere on the paper. When I dropped the magazine out, I found I'd loaded 17HMR's in my 22WMR!

I bore sight ARs by setting the upper on a support and aiming at a buoy ball 300 yards away and putting the sights on that spot. with a bolt gun, same thing. with a lever gun, same thing, if the breach opens up the whole barrel. I've always used pretty much the same technique using a dot or spot on...

The 30-30 is probably just fine in the real world, but there is a certain charm to an automatic rifle capable of using 30 or 40 round magazines or even a drum.

They seem to have a lot of screws (which is a downside) and .455 ammo is certainly not readily available, but I just like the way they look. I've owned several Webleyi and Enfield revolvers over the years. As far as the 45's you'll find more Webley's where the cylinder has been shaved to accept 45 ...

The BLR is a beautiful rifle, but they can be a pain to pain in the rear to work on. It's a much toucher design than a 94 or 336.

I still see nice condition Cugir's sell $200 and "sometimes" a bit less, but I'd be happy with that rifle for $125.00 Some of them are great little shooters.
