Re: Uncataloged Savage 99F; 1974

Well I don't know what was special about it, but the hammer price was $1,900.00
$500.00 more than any other 99 so far.

Uncataloged Savage 99F; 1974

Have always been curious about the 99 in 22HP. An auction house within driving distance to me has nine 99's in the next auction one of which is a 1974 uncatalogued 99F Series A in 358 Win. There are other F's. I have the R. Reynoldson book. They don't describe the uncatalogued features, or is this j...

Re: Marlin 1894 rear sight changes

This sight is installed in the original barrel sight dovetail so yes it may prove to be too far forward but wasn't that expensive. I bought it thinking it was an 'original' Marlin, pre-Remington and without any cross bolt type safety but can't find the serial number. I don't think it was on the barr...

Marlin 1894 rear sight changes

Hello, I can't find the exact name but I replaced my existing rear sight on a Marlin 1894 with a type of ring. It fits in the existing dovetail of the rear sight and adjusts the same as the original. I am messing around with a cheap one as I am having bifocal issues. I don't want to invest too much ...

Re: Marlin 1894 44mag sights

I have a 196? Browning T2 and a Garand and I do fine with those peeps.
Handguns are also okay.
Rifle open sights, forget it.
I like the simplicity of the look of the Skinners, I guess they are just not quite as simple to switch out as I had hoped.

Marlin 1894 44mag sights

Me, buckhorn sights and bifocals, ugh. First, with the buckhorn, I'm starting to realize that the front sight has to be down deep in the rear. True? Second, I bought a Skinner Post, just the one with the peep and no base with the Marlin size (8X something) screw. Thinking if I screwed it all the way...

winchester 94 bolt peep

I just learned that early '71's had a bolt peep and see notes on adding them to various 92's.
Is is possible to add one to a 94? Can the bolt be drilled and tapped ?
Would a gunsmith attempt it?

I see a Skinner sight on hickok45 video's and like the idea of that one.

1- Deposited the cheque and are awaiting for it to clear your and his bank. 2- Will, after the funds have been deposited in your account, send him a refund in 5- 10 days. (As an aside, if the cheque does clear, I would send the refund out on the last day.) From what I have read, having the check in...

TOP: 1976 9422M in .22Mag serial F266XXX with a Leupold VX-1 2-7 Rimfire scope.
BOTTOM: 1972 M94 in 30-30 serial 3589XXX which I don't plan to scope.

Rather a pretty couple, if I do say so myself!

3,589,xxx Winchester 94

I just bought via Gunbroker a local to me model 94, year 1972 via a serial number look up. I have not had time to do anything with it but work the lever and put it in the safe (hammer down of course). A couple of small dings but in remarkable condition and the seller likely never fired it. Funny tha...

Re: 259xxxx Winchester 94

That's a nice Winchester. I'd take that big lever off too. As for the sights I'd put a receiver sight and a patridge front sight on it. Joe Thank you Sir! I've been weighing my options on the sights but have been thinking about putting the stock ones on and leaving it that way since it's so nice. I...

Buffalo Bore Heavy 30-30

So I am curious as to penetration tests for Buffalo Bore Heavy 30-30 ammo. I usually carry their Lower Recoil .44 Magnum Ammo - 255 gr. Keith - G.C. as a woods gun, I guess I just believe their penetration claims and am wondering if there are any real world tests. Does anyone run skull cadaver tests...

Re: LEVERGUNS S. Africa SAFARI 2010

I am interested but have a question, I have become a dedicated handgun hunter, would there be any issues with me hunting with a handgun instead of a levergun? I know this forum is for levergunners and enjoy them myself, but have made the switch to handguns as my main hunting battery. Thanks for you...
