Re: The Gun Room

Glad you got to the range, Tom. Good shooting. Never had a slug gun. They shoot really well though. Hey Six, Yeah, I bet if you use one brand of commercial brass it will tighten up. A Lee Factory Crimp die helps too. Don't know what you are using for powder. I like H110 for supers with lighter bulle...

Re: The Gun Room

I tell ya, those Blackouts are a blast. Sometimes it takes some playing to find a good shooting load. You will get it, bud.
Are you making your brass or using commercial? Sometimes it's harder to get top accuracy with homemade brass.

IDK Gunny.
Old Red is a four banger, and I wheel with some guys that run em. I've been in some pretty tough sleddin' with them.
Now, I will say, if your idea of wheeling is big mud, I agree you should pass. Especially if your trying to roll a set of 38 Swamper TSL's on steelies. :D

The first couple years are kinda wonky.

I'm not totally against the 2.5. The biggest handicap is on the road. For trail use, it works fine. 4Hi is kind of useless, however.

I've dabbled with the forward optic on a lever a few times. For me, it screws up the balance. It definitely adds to the effectiveness if your vision isn't the best, however. The best compromise I found was the mount made by Doug Turnbull that goes in the rear sight dovetail. It holds a Burris FF3 an...

I've only ever used 170's, but shot a few 150's out of a 16" trapper last year and it seemed to really like em.
Been thinking of giving them more of a try. Also been thinking of giving the Speer 130 a try in the 16" guns.

It absolutely would. And I would have done just that......but like I said above, I've heard the rear dovetail on these pistols aren't standard. When a new rear is tried, they are loose. Most are milling the slide for a Novak. The sights are fairly useable, so I figured this was the easiest route.......

Winchester is actually chambering the 32WS again. That said, I'd rather an older version. Unless you hunger for the actual project, it would be much cheaper and easier to buy an original 32.
