Have to vote for this. Also "Second Hand Lions" with Robert Duval. If you haven't seen that one you're missing out.

I carry an older model Taurus 605 .357 everywhere. There's saddle boots on my 4-wheeler, the tractor, and the golf cart my Mom uses around the farm. My B92 .357 is always in whichever I'm on. Packs of feral dogs are the main concern here. We have see some mountain lions in recent years, although th...

+1 Ouzo In the Marine Corps there was a C-ration meal we referred to as ham and M@##%^F*&%)R's. The Army had those two, but they weren't my worst. It would have to be a toss up between some type of boiled rutabaga's a friend of my Mom's brought to Thanksgiving dinner once or the combination of ...

My Paternal grandfather died when I was 8 and the few memories I have of him were sitting in his lap watching baseball or Bonanza on TV, taking care of the cows and eating cornbread and buttermilk. I doubt if through all of this there's very many stockpiles of military Winchester 95's in any decent condition at all remaining in Russia. Re: Which 357 levergun?

I have a Rossi 92 & a Browning B-92. If you can find a B92, it is far superior to the Rossi. The Brownings are out there, ya just have to look. I like both, the Browning is my favorite. If you think a Rossi is like butter, slicked up. Well a Browning is like glass. Not bad-mouthing the Rossi's ...

Browning's relationship with Winchester demanded that he produce patentable models. JMB 'created' many more prototypes for Winchester that did NOT see production, than those that Winchester marketed. The idea was to cover all possible bases with PATENTS , making it difficult for the competition to ...

Re: Reliability cycling 38spcl in a 357mag lever

The only .357 lever gun I've owned was a Marlin 1894. It was totally dependent on bullet design. Proper bullets and it didn't care what case was in it, it would feed either slick as grease. Wrong bullet and it was a jam-a-matic with either. Joe That's pretty much been my finding with my Browning B9...

Thanks :) I wonder how long I can seat the bullets - and still fit in the mag - I'd like to seat them out to within .001" or so of the rifling if possible. Any thoughts? do these come factory d/t'd for a side-mount receiver sight? Make up a dummy round with a trimmed case and the bullet you're...

I was leaning toward the '73 too, but I keep seeing "steel framed" '66s showing up on gunbroker and such. I'm trying to find some info on the difference. I was thinking there was a difference in the action that made the '73 less prone to firing out of battery. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/...

Ever since I could remember, I've wanted a Winchester 94 with a half octagon/half round barrel, silver capped forearm, chambered for 25-35. It was my grandfathers. Terrible trajedy. Having grown up on a small livestock farm I'll never pass up a shot at a 'yote. In '83 I took a report of a 4 y/o attacked by a coyote. Mother of the child thought it was a dog, but an old farmer next door swore it was a coyote. Lots of stitches.

If you decide not to go the lever-action route the 7mm-08 is an excellent choice. But look hard at the little .260 Remington. I've become very attached to mind and am thinking about having a heavy barrel built in this caliber. VERY light recoil and super flat shooting.

Re: Why bother with the 45-70?

My .45-70 will shoot hard-cast 405- to 440-gr. bullets at 1850 fps -- comfortably and accurately -- all day long. For me, that is the epitome of .45-70 performance. I need nothing more for any critter (or rock, or stump) on this continent, and I have little likelihood of traveling to any other... A...
