Not yet, just got it - I know what the 1970s and later manufactured ones feel like ('crisp'), but why would the let-off of the pre-64 1950s rifles feel different from those made pre-WWII?

Rather than start a new thread, figured this would be a good enough place to post my question - picked up a 1950s vintage 1894 and the hammer fall feels sort of 'weak'. Prior to a tear-down and cleaning, any thoughts on what the problem might be? The obvious answer would be weak springs (42 & 44...

Howdy, What are the most-likely causes for binding while cycling an 1873? Lower lip missing/snapped off of the breechbolt face? Hammer riding too low? There's actually a dozen Tophats, they were all clones from a Government program back in the 1950s.
